TIMUN MAS

(The Golden Cucumber)

Once upon a time, there were a farmer and his wife lived in the jungle.Everyday they went to the sacred tree where they prayed and begging for a child. One day, a giant passed them when they were praying and said,”Hooo-haa……do you really want a child???Here, I’ll give you some cucumber seeds. You will have a baby girl. But you have to promise me!!!! When the girl is seventeen years old, you must give her to me!” and the farmer answered,” Y-y-yes. I-I-I ag-g-gree.T-t-thank you very much!”. And then they went home with the cucumber seeds.

The next day, they planted the seeds and watered it everyday. Day by day the seeds became bigger,bigger and bigger and finally, it became a big golden cucumber.When it was ripe, the farmer cut it and took it home.When he arrived,he laid it down on the floor and……….they were surprised!!There was a baby in the cucumber and the farmer said,”Oh my God!”

“What’s wrong?”

“Look at here, my wife!There is a baby in the cucumber!”

“What??!”

“Sshhh……Come here!”

“Where??Ooh,you are right! How cute the  baby is!”said his wife.And then they named the baby Timun Mas,which means the Golden Cucumber.

Many years later,Timun Mas grew into a really beautiful girl with black hair, bright eyes and slim body.And then,when she was seventeen years old,the giant came and said to her father,”Hooo-haa…..I’m coming to take your daughter!Hmmm,where is she??”

“Y-y-yes… d’don’t worry! S-she is playing in t-the backyard. L-l-let my wife get her.”said farmer.

Meanwhile, her wife found Timun Mas and she gave her a colth bag with four things in it and said,”Timun Mas my daughter,the giant has come to take you.Here, take this bag with you to fight him.”

“But, what can I do, mother??”

“Just ran as fast as you can and don’t forget to throw all the things in the bag to fight him!Go on!Hurry up!”said her mother. And then Timun Mas ran into the forest.

  Meanwhile, the giant was impatient.He broke the hut and tried to find Timun Mas. And then he saw timun Mas ran into the jungle.He ran over Timun Mas.When the giant got closer,Timun Mas threw all three things from her bag.The fist, she threw a handle of salt and became a wife sea.But the giant could swim and tried to catch her. The second, she threw a handle of chili and became really big thorny bushes.But it couldn’t stop him yet. The third, she  threw some cucumber seeds and became a wide cucumber field. But pity, after he ate all the cucumber, he became stronger than before and Timun Mas complained ”Huh…Huh…Oh my god how strong the giant is!”

At last,when the giant was coming closer, Timun Mas threw the forth and the last thing from her bag, some shrimp paste.

When she threw the shrimp paste, the ground between her and the giant became a wide sea of mud, and then she said,”I  hope it can stop him!” At this time, the giant couldn’t free and he screamed loudly and said,”Oh,what’s this?How dare you Timun Mas! HELP!HELP TIMUN MAS!HELP!!!!” and then, the giant sank into the mud and Timun Mas said,”Huh…huh..Where is the giant???He’s gone!Oh, he sank to this mud. I must go home quickly!” When she arrived home, she said,”Mother!Father! Istill alive!”said Timun Mas.

“Oh, thank goodness you”re safe. Thank you God, thank you!” said her mother when embracing her. And then, they lived happily ever after. No more fear, and the giant was died.

 The evil always defeated by the goodness.
